Chapter 7

Tipton Sanders

“Tipton, bring my son home today. My mom wants to spend time with her grandson,” Shae said through the speaker of my phone.

“Shae, it’s six o’clock in the morning. When I wake Trent up, it’s gone be to take him to daycare. It’s been weeks since I heard from you. You not getting my son back until we have a conversation about how shit needs to change at your crib.”

“Don’t worry about how I run things at my house, nigga. Just know my son is safe.”

Sitting up, I had to remind myself of who it was I was dealing with. It was too early, and Shae didn’t want shit but to get a reaction out of me.

“Listen, I’m not about to sit on the phone and argue with you like a hoe. When it comes to my son, everything is my fuckin’ business. Under my roof or not, I’m responsible for his fuckin’ life. Clearly, yo’ ass don’t know shit about parenting because you surely haven’t been one. Get the fuck off my phone and don’t call me this early no more, or your ass will be blocked. I don’t like to repeat myself, but like I said, I’m not bringing Trent nowhere until we talk,” I spat before ending the call.

Reaching to put my phone back on the nightstand, I was met with curious eyes when I turned back around.

“Good morning, beautiful. I’m sorry if I woke you up,” I expressed genuinely.

Instead of replying verbally, Honor traced her finger over the tattoo that was located on my left chest.

“I can’t believe you never got this removed or covered up.”

“Never thought about it, baby doll. Despite how mad and hurt I was, my feelings for you never dissipated.”

“So, none of your exes had a problem with it?”

“I only have one ex, Honor. I won’t lie and say having your name tatted didn’t garner any arguments because it did, but I never took it seriously. Shae knew I loved you long before her and I started getting serious.”

Looking up at me with furrowed brows, Honor pulled her hand away before speaking.

“Really?” She quizzed.

“Yes. The shit wasn’t a secret. Especially when it came to women.”

“If we were to get back together, would Shae be a problem? I understand that’s Trent’s mother, but I don’t know how I feel about waking up to my man arguing with another woman.”

“She wouldn’t be a problem to you. Our shit is rocky right now, but I’m actively trying to get everything straightened out. Besides being around Trent, you and Shae don’t have anything to do with each other. It’ll stay that way,” I expressed.

Shae was a pain in the ass, but Honor would never have to worry about that. I’ve come a long way from letting Shae fuck up my mood. On the same token, I could understand where Honor was coming from. Females were catty, so it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Shae ever tried to get flip at the mouth with her, but I would nip that shit in the bud as soon as it happened.
